Since I was a boy, I dreamt of adventures. And now, I get to capture them with my lens.

Robert Maya’s captivating visuals bring the viewer exactly where he is— living the exciting stories he so vividly tells. With over twenty years of shooting–from deserts in Afghanistan to grizzlies in Alaska–in over forty countries and six continents, he combines his strong technical background in lighting and specialty rigs with a powerful sense of aesthetics for documentaries, TV series, and over 300 career commercials. Born in Havana, Cuba, he’s bilingual in English and Spanish.

Maya’s cinematography in the award-winning feature documentary, A Case for Kindness, has garnered several film festival accolades including cinematography awards from the Venice Film Festival’s Golden Lion Award, New York Cinematography Awards, Los Angeles Cinematography Awards, and Rome International Movie Awards.

He shoots for TV series like the upcoming Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn brought to Apple TV by Creator and Executive Producer, Bill Lawrence of Ted Lasso fame, Hulu’s docudrama God Forbid directed by Billy Corben, Netflix specials, Starz TV series Magic City, and the Oprah Winfrey Network’s documentary series– Operation Change.

Maya also develops and shoots content and social responsibility campaigns for organizations like Global Citizen, Clinton Global Initiative, Forest Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative, Ashton Kutcher’s Thorn Foundation, Elton John’s Aides Foundation, Starkey Hearing Foundation, and countless others. Maya has shot commercials for brands including Budweiser, Ford, Chrysler, Visa, Procter and Gamble, General Motors, General Mills, American Express, Hulu Sports, and Netflix.
